Scottish Highlands Adrenaline Weekend..

Staying at the Grandtully Hotel, located in the village of Grandtully on the banks of the River Tay. The whole hotel sleeps maximum of 24, or 20 not sharing double beds. We have booked it for the weekend (Friday and Saturday) 29th and 30th August for £950 plus VAT; that works out at around £56 per person for the two nights based on 20 occupants.

Grandtully Village has two pubs, plus a bar within the hotel and the neighbouring town of Aberfeldy (about 5 miles away) has several pubs, hotels, restaurants and Dewers whiskey distillery. Pitlochery (about 8 miles away) has 20 plus bars and hotels. There are Taxi services at both Aberfeldy and Pitlochery.

Spit Roast Hire £200 plus Pig £150 final price subject to weight, say £350 = £17.50 per person. I am informed it will take around 5 hours to cook.

Activity Centre: Free Spirits activity centre is located 30 yards from the Hotel and have white water rafting, cliff jumping, abseiling, kayaking and canyoning (Hiking through water canyons). http://www.freespirits-online.co.uk

The best white water for the time of year should be the River Tummel @ £35 per person, it has a mix of white water grades from easy grade 2 to a scary grade 5.

The River Tummel The River Tummel starts its life 60 miles to the west of Pitlochry on the windswept Rannoch Moor close to Glencoe. It begins as the River Ba and runs east passing through numerous lochs including Loch Ba, Loch Laidon, Loch Eigheach, Loch Rannoch, Dunalastair Water, Loch Tummel and finally Loch Faskally, until it reaches the main stem of the River Tay at Ballinluig.
The river has some fun technical rapids such as the Zig Zag, Bone Yard and Shark Tooth. The final drop is 18 feet be sure to be holding on!

Water sports: Loch Tay is just down the road for power boats, water skiing etc.

Gliding: Its about 60 miles up the A9, but you can take a 20 minute flight in a glider for around £60. www.gliding.org.

There are many other activities in the area including mountain biking, fishing, paint ball, go carts and fell walking.
